KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/25 February) – For returning a clutch bag containing P20,000 to his passenger on Tuesday night, a tricycle driver here received a certificate of commendation from City Vice Mayor Joseph Evangelista.
Rene Adame, of Mundog Subdivision, received the award at the Sangguniang Panlungsod session hall around 10 a.m. yesterday.
Aside from the commendation, Evangelista gave Adame P2,000 or 10-percent of the amount he returned to his passenger identified as Armand Vinzon.
The vice mayor also shouldered the renewal of Adame’s franchise and business permit for his tricycle, which amounted to P4 thousand, and a medical assistance to the driver’s youngest daughter who was sick with flu.
Two city councilors had assured scholarship for Adame’s two children.
Councilor Jiv Bombeo promised to include in his list of scholars Adame’s eldest son, John Rey, while Councilor Mario Flores said he will shoulder the schooling of Kimberly starting this June.
Kimberly, according to Vinzon, was among the winners in the children’s category of “Talents Exposed”, a local singing contest hosted by him.
In a text message Vinzon thanked Adame for his “good deed”, saying the driver showed exemplary virtue.
Vinzon said the money he left in the tricycle was for his mother who was set to travel to Thailand this week. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
