MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/12 March) – A separate building for treatment of tropical diseases will be constructed within the compound of the Bukidnon Provincial Medical Center this year, Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri said.
Zubiri told MindaNews that a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the two-story building will be held on March 26.
He said the new building will house the wards for patients stricken with tropical diseases.
He also said the pediatrics ward, presently located in the main building of the BPMC, will be transferred to the new building.
The senator has earmarked P25 million from his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to fund the project.
He said the new building will address the problem of dengue patients from the province. During outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease in 2009 and 2010, patients had to be referred to hospitals in Cagayan de Oro (Walter I. Balane/MindaNews)
