ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/29 May) – A total of 122,458 farmers and fisher folks are expected to benefit from the government’s Cash-for-Work Program (CWP) in Zamboanga Peninsula.
Elizabeth Dy, Social Welfare Officer IV of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), said each family will receive a total of P220 daily or 2,420 for 11 working days.
A total of P296.3 million has been allocated for the CWP in Zamboanga Peninsula that comprises the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Zamboanga del Sur and the cities of Dapitan, Dipolog, Isabela, Pagadian and Zamboanga.
Dy said the identified beneficiaries will undertake projects that would include construction or repair of social and economic infrastructure facilities, environmental-related projects and others which will be proposed by the community-beneficiary of the projects.
Dy said the CWP will be implemented in coordination with other government agencies like the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
She said the identified beneficiaries will also undertake trainings to enhance their skills in their chosen field.
She stressed that they will strictly monitor the implementation of the CWP in this region to ensure compliance on the part of the beneficiaries, as she emphasized that CWP is no doleout.
She said the beneficiaries were identified through a survey undertaken by the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction. (MindaNews)
