ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/25 June) – Two persons were killed while 14 others were wounded in a fire that triggered the explosion of a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tank in a popular restaurant in Isabela City, Basilan early Saturday evening, a military official said. .
Col. Alex Macario, Special Operations Task Force-Basilan (SOTF-B) commander, said the explosion occurred around 5:55 p.m. at Mon’s Kitchenette along J.S. Alano Street, Barangay Seaside, Isabela City.
Macario said a fire preceded the explosion that razed to the ground the Mon’s Kitchenette, a semi-concrete structure.
Mon’s Kitchenette is usually full of customers at the end of the day since it is among the favorite restaurants in the city.
One of the 14 injured is a policemen detailed as beat guard along J.S. Alano Street. (MindaNews)
