DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/04 June) – “Green building” concepts and other energy-efficient systems will be showcased in a forum for building contractors to be held here next month.
Organizers said they have invited some 100 exhibitors that will display building materials, building management systems, construction and mining equipment, and many other products to Philconstruct Mindanao 2011, an exhibition and forum on construction, on July 7-9, at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Convention Hall.
Hosting the event is the Davao Constructors Association Inc. (DCA), an affiliate of the Philippine Constructors Association, Inc. (PCA).
Stakeholders comprising the region’s construction industry are invited to attend the expo.
In the same event the Techno Forum Mindanao will hold seminars on the amended Republic Act 8194, sustainable construction, alternative dispute resolution, green building and concrete technology. Special seminars would include Occupational Health and Safety Certification Course (as required by DOLE) and Authorized Managing Officers Orientation.
Victorino V. Lahoz, 2nd Vice President and Overall Chairman of Technoforum 2011 said that Philconstruct is a “venue… showcasing the latest technology, materials, and equipment available” while the Technoforum is “a venue for people coming from both stakeholders and the construction industry to be given a chance in order to collaborate”
Lahoz added that the occasion would enable them to tackle topics more relevant to Davao. He cited in particular the topic “bridging of industry and technology towards sustainable construction” where Techno Forum may help “fill the gap”.
He said a local standard for energy-efficient building designs of high-rise buildings already exists in the country.
He said buildings in Manila are now trying to cope with this standard and that it should reach Davao soon. (MindaNews)
