ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/2 June) – Two days of authentic Italian food, enchanting Italian songs and dances and great company await the Zamboangueños and visitors in this southern port city.
The city government has set the stage for the holding of the first ever Italian Food Festival on June 3-4 at the Paseo del Mar.
The Paseo del Mar, which was constructed last year, serves as the favorite hangout place for Zamboangueños and visitors at night. It is located at the back of the centuries-old Fort Pilar in downtown Zamboanga.
Mayor Celso Lobregat said the two-day event, which is intended to benefit the indigent sector in this city, is organized in collaboration with San Miguel Brewery, Inc. and the Villa Italiana Health Charity Center, Inc.
Lobregat said the Italian Food Festival will be a showcase of an array of authentic Italian cuisine such as pasta and pizza, which will be sold at affordable prices.
Lobregat said spectators can sip a glass of cold beer or other San Miguel products which will be available at the different existing stalls to complement the Italian food.
The first ever Italian Food Festival in this city comes immediately after the city government concluded the 2011 Summer Festival, a month-long series of activities intended to involve the community and provide wholesome entertainment to local residents and visitors.
Meanwhile, Lobregat announced that preparations are underway for the conduct of a lights festival set to be held on June 5.
Lobregat said the lights festival, which will be the first of its kind to be held in Western Mindanao, is a competition to be participated in by local sound and lights providers, “giving them the opportunity to interpret the creative nature of light on the lives of the Zamboangueños now or in the past.” (MindaNews)
