DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/23 September) — The Regional Trial of Court Branch 14 postponed the scheduled hearings on Thursday, Sept. 22, after receiving two calls threatening to blow up the office.
Judge George Omelio of RTC 14 told his staff to go home to be safe while police were called to search the place for the supposed bomb.
A court employee who asked not to be named said that at 8:15 a.m. they received a call from an unknown caller who claimed that there was a bomb inside the office.
“We were very scared that we immediately called the police. The judge just told us to go home,” he said.
Members of the Talomo police precinct, Central 911, a K9 Unit and a bomb squad rushed to the Hall of Justice to search for the supposed bomb. But the report turned out to be a hoax.
After two hours, the same person called again and threatened to blow up the “bomb” inside the bathroom.
“We rushed downstairs. We are now afraid to answer the phone,” the same source said.
SPO4 Simon Lagura of the Talomo Police Precinct said they found no bomb.
Last Tuesday, a white vehicle parked along Ponciano Street caused a commotion after word came out that it allegedly contained a bomb. Bomb experts, however, found no explosive. (MindaNews)
