Zambo councilor’s driver goes berserk, kills one, injures two

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/03 September) –   One person was killed and two others were injured, including a four-year old boy, when a driver of a city councilor went berserk and shot them Friday night.

Senior Supt. Edwin de Ocampo, city police director, said Roque Cadiz, 53, driver of  Councilor Jaime Cabato, was going around the neighborhood in Barangay Baliwasan Friday evening, inquiring from his neighbors who stabbed his brother earlier on the same day. When no one could answer his query, de Ocampo said, Cadiz pulled out a caliber .45 pistol and shot the victims.

Cadiz  was immediately arrested by Police Station 9 commander Supt. Hado Edding and his men, who happened to be in the area at the time of the incident, De Ocampo said.

He said criminal charges were filed Saturday against the suspect before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

De Ocampo said Roderick Cuartocruz, 28 expired while undergoing treatment at the ZAEC Medical Center. Wounded were Marlon Cuartocruz, 26, and Juric Cuartocruz, 4. (MindaNews)
