ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/12 October) – Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have arrested four alleged big time drug pushers dealing shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in a buy-bust operation here this morning.
PDEA Regional Director Adzhar Albani said that three of the suspects were arrested around 10:30 a.m. at a bakery along San Jose Road while the other one in a follow-up operation at a budget hotel in Barangay Canelar.
Arrested during the buy-bust were Jassem Lilang, 22; Mohammad Lilang, 30; and Joel Sergio, 24; all residents of Barangay Talisayan here. The follow-up operation netted Nora Cabaro, 39.
Albani disclosed the buy-bust operation was launched after the three suspects agreed to deliver four medium-sized heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu for P100,000. The sachets were contained in a pouch when they delivered the prohibited substance.
Albani said the suspects tried to escape aboard a car when they sensed the presence of lawmen after handing over the pouch and receiving the money but were cornered by PDEA agents.
He said they launched the follow-up operation that resulted to Cabaro’s arrest after the three named her as the source of the shabu. Cabaro, a resident of Barangay Lower Sang-an, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, was arrested at a budget hotel in Barangay Canelar here.
Confiscated from Cabaro’s possession was one medium-sized heat-sealed plastic sachet containing shabu which was place in a black bag.
He said the total weight of shabu confiscated from the suspects is approximately 25 grams.
Albani said cases will be filed against the suspects for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002). (MindaNews)
