ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/07) – A foreigner of still unknown nationality who illegally entered the country was reportedly abducted by his former Filipino business partner in an island town of Tawi-Tawi province, a police official disclosed Friday.
Tawi-Tawi police director Senior Supt. Rodelio Jocson said that Pang Choon Pong entered the southern backdoor together with three Filipinos supposedly to meet his former business partner identified as Merham Maraji in Sitangkai town.
Jocson said Pang and his Filipino companions took a twin-engine speedboat to Barangay Larap, Sitangkai and arrived there at around 10am Wednesday.
The police official added that Maraji seized Pang at gunpoint, forced the foreigner to board his (Maraji’s) twin-engine speedboat and sped away after they reportedly failed to reach a deal.
Pang’s companions, who were left behind unhurt, are now in the custody of the police for questioning while they are tracking down the whereabouts of Pang and his alleged abductor.
Jocson said policemen had searched Maraji’s safehouse in Sitangkai but that the suspect and Pang were not around except for the suspect’s speedboat, which was impounded at the town’s police headquarters.
A criminal case will be filed against the suspect, he said. (MindaNews)
