Judge dies in Zambo Sur highway collision

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/18 October) – Two persons, including a judge, were killed in a head-on collision at 5:15 p.m. Monday, along the national highway in Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Peninsula police director Chief Supt. Elpidio De Asis, said.

De Asis said the incident took place at around 5:15 p.m. Monday in Barangay Kahayagan East, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

He  identified the fatalities as Regional Trial Court Branch 30 Judge Ernesto Maximo Victor Laurel and Kisca Grace Guzman.

He said Laurel was driving his white Volkswagen Sedan when he collided with a Montero Sports Utility Vehicle driven by Victor Francis Benhur Escueta.

Laurel died on the spot while Guzman, the passenger of Escueta, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital,

Escueta, who voluntarily surrendered to the police, is now detained at the Aurora Municipal Police Station, De Asis said. (MindaNews)
