Gunmen seize Australian in Ipil

ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/05 December) – Gunmen shot and then abducted an Australian national late Monday in Ipil town, Zamboanga Sibugay, a military official said.

Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, spokesperson of the Western Mindanao Command disclosed the victim identified as Warren Richard Rodwell was seized around 6:15 p.m. Monday in Barangay Upper Pangi, Ipil.

Rodwell, 53, was at his residence in Green Meadows Subdivision when six unidentified gunmen barged in and seized him, Cabangbang said.

Neighbors said they heard a shot coming from the victim’s house and his shouts for help.

Blood was found inside Rodwell’s house suggesting he could have been wounded.

Military and police units were immediately alerted to track down Rodwell, Cabangbang said.

Rodwell is married to Miraflor Gutang, 27, a resident of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay. (Paulnazer Lontua and MindaNews in Zamboanga City)
