ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/19 January) – Intelligence operatives arrested on Tuesday a fugitive who poses as a housemaid looking for a job and once hired, feeds household members with food laced with poisonous substances, then robs them of cash and valuables.
Dubbed by the police as “Poison Ivy,” Anamarie Livrando, who escaped on November 19 from the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City where she was serving sentence for multiple frustrated homicide and robbery, was arrested while about to leave this city for Butuan City via Cagayan de Oro.
Livrando is allegedly responsible for poisoning and robbing 10 Chinese-Filipino families in Manila and Quezon cities.
Senior Supt. Edwin de Ocampo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, said Livrando, 31, was arrested a day after they received an information about her presence in the city.
Livrando was waiting for a bus en route to Cagayan de Oro City when arrested at around 10 a.m. at the bus terminal, De Ocampo said.
Investigation showed that Livrando arrived here last month purposely to secure a passport from the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Zamboanga Consular Office, he said.
Livrando arrived with here foreigner boyfriend and initially stayed in a hotel. She later transferred to a boarding house and identified herself as Kevin Kylie Deniega Cañabano, De Ocampo said.
De Ocampo said Livrando was en route to Butuan via Cagayan de Oro City where she would apply for passport since she failed to secure one in this city, De Ocampo said.
The Manila policemen have arrested her on August 22, 2008 but escaped from Manila City Jail on February 28, 2009. She was arrested again on April 7, 2011 by Quezon City policemen on complaints of qualified theft.
She was convicted and detained for multiple frustrated homicide and robbery in CIW until her escape last November 19.
Livrando is detained at the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center until the arrival of CIW personnel who would bring her back to Mandaluyong, De Ocampo said. (MindaNews)
