KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/05 June) — Police in Pikit, North Cotabato recovered an allegedly stolen taxi, around 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Inspector Elias Dandan, police chief of Pikit, said the stolen vehicle, a white Toyota Sedan with plate number KVZ 138, was discovered abandoned in a house owned by one Manuel Usop, along the boundary of Barangays Bolol and Kabasalan.
Dandan said they saw blood stains on the driver’s seat, which hinted that its driver, Richard Chi of Cagayan de Oro City, could have been killed and his body thrown in another place.
Chi was reportedly hired by two unidentified male passengers last June 1 in Cagayan de Oro but went missing afterward.
The car has body mark, FranzJoy taxi, and is owned by Francisco Berbesada of Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, police said.
Police located the stolen car through tips from their informants in the area.
“Our informants, when they saw the car, suspected that it was stolen so they asked our assistance. We found out the taxi was a carnapped [sic] vehicle. Usop’s house has long been abandoned,” said Dandan.
He added they are trying to locate the body of the taxi driver. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
