Researchers create Bukidnon’s homegrown pollster group

MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/30 August) – A group of Bukidnon-based researchers and other professionals have created Heart Beat Bukidnon, the province’s first “legal research organization.”

Bonifacio Palo Jr., founding chair, told MindaNews the group still has no polling experience but is composed of mostly research directors, statisticians, and academicians from the province’s colleges and universities.

Palo, who presented the group to the Bukidnon provincial board Wednesday, said their mission is to become the “most trusted and excellent provider of credible, accurate and balance information and views of the people in the Province of Bukidnon on political, social, economic, cultural and environment issues.“

Palo cited that they are looking at the prospect of political surveys especially with the elections due next year.

“We thought of the different surveys that came out in previous elections. We want to be the credible source,” he added.

Among the group’s objectives include to “asses the information needs of the people of Bukidnon through surveys and research, to design and develop an information dissemination strategy which would provide people an easy access to local, national and international information; and to implement and evaluate the information dissemination strategy.”

But Palo, principal of Salawagan National High School in Quezon town, said Bukidnon needed “a credible, accurate, and balanced information and views on issues” in order to foster growth and development.

The group also plans to conduct research and extension and capability building trainings.

He added that they will observe a work ethic of integrity, confidentiality and honesty.

Palo cited 15 members so far who form the group’s analysts and research experts. (Walter I. Balane / MindaNews)
