ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/14 November) – Gunmen suspected to be members of a kidnap-for-ransom group abducted on Tuesday evening a public school teacher in this city, officials disclosed.
The incident took place a day after unidentified gunmen seized a businessman in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
The local police reported that Flordeliza Ongchua, 48, was seized by eight gunmen clad in military and police uniforms at her residence around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Labuan, this city.
Ongchua, whose husband is a businessman, is a teacher at the Labuan Elementary School.
The gunmen dragged her to the shore of Labuan where five other gunmen aboard two motorized bancas were waiting, police said.
The victim was forced to board one of the two bancas that sped towards Sibuco town, Zamboanga del Norte, police added.
The victim’s whereabouts remained unknown as of Wednesday. Her family has not received any call from the abductors.
A day before Ongchua’s abduction, a group of unidentified gunmen seized Anwar Alvin Zainal, 34, a businessman in Tiguma, Pagadian City.
Zainal is a car dealer and into insurance business.
Police Regional Office-9 director Chief Supt. Napoleon Estilles said the victim was together with his wife when a red Isuzu Crosswind stopped in front of them and the gunmen on board dragged him into the vehicle.
Zainal, whose wife was left unharmed, was found dead around 6 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Balocot, Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur, Estilles said. (MindaNews)
