ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/15 November) –Local authorities have created a task force to investigate the circumstances leading to the abduction of a public school teacher on Tuesday in this city.
Task Force Flor was created Wednesday after Mayor Celso Lobregat convened the Crisis Management Committee (CMC) and local police director Senior Supt. James Mejia, who was named to head the group.
The task force was named after the nickname of Flordeliza Ongchua, 48, who was seized by gunmen from her residence at around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Labuan.
Lobregat said the investigation that will be conducted by the task force is to clarify all questions related to the incident.
During the CMC meeting, Lobregat said they have discussed measures and steps necessary for the resolution of the case.
Meanwhile, Lobregat revealed that Ongchua was just the “secondary target,” citing the primary target was Labuan barangay chairman Ronald Maravilla.
Maravilla is the first cousin of Ongchua’s husband, Arnold.
Maravilla was not around when the gunmen barged into his residential compound.
The gunmen then jumped over the concrete fence towards the residential compound of the Ongchuas, barged into the house and seized the teacher.
Maravilla disclosed he was driving home from the downtown area when the incident took place.
However, Maravilla disclosed he has not received any threat on his life. (MindaNews)
