SURIGAO CITY (MindaNews/20 January) — Residents who fled their villages on January 16 when Lake Mainit in Surigao del Norte overflowed have not returned home as the water level in the lake remains at critical level, a disaster response official said.
Engr. Marilyn Pono, chif of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office said the evacuees from Barangay Quezon are still staying in different evacuation centers in the town of Mainit, four days after evacuating on January 16.
A total of 1,080 families evacuated as Lake Mainit overflowed due to continuous rains since January 14
