ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/03 July) – Authorities arrested Wednesday morning a suspected kidnap-for-ransom group member in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, an official said.
Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca, Police Regional Office-9 spokesman, said the suspect, Basir Sakilan, was arrested at around 3 a.m. in Barangay Bluawan, Payao municipality.
Huesca said Sakilan, 41, has a pending warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 24 Judge Josefino Bael of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Huesca said Sakilan was allegedly involved in the November 9, 2010 kidnapping of businessmen Reynaldo Drapeza and Joel Endino in the boundary of Kabasalan and Payao towns.
He said that Drapeza and Endino were freed in April 2011.
Huesca said that operatives of the Provincial Public Safety Company, Philippine Center on Transnational Crime and Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission arrested Sakilan at his hideout. (MindaNews)
