ALBUERA, Leyte (MindaNews/26 November)—A joint Philippine Army and Philippine National Police team arrested Daniel Javier, an alleged henchman of Moro National Liberation Front founding chair Nur Misuari, in Cagayan de Oro City at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, a military official said.
Brig. Gen. Ricardo Visaya, 4th Infantry Division commander, said the joint team arrested Javier after the bus he was riding arrived at the Bulua West terminal in Barangay Bulua in Cagayan de Oro.
Javier was nabbed on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 15 for his alleged role in the Zamboanga standoff last September, Visaya said in a phone interview.
He is facing rebellion charges, Visaya said.
The military official said Javier allegedly portrayed himself as a United Nations representative who told Misuari’s supporters during the standoff that their action has the alleged support of the UN.
“Javier is not a foreigner as he claims to be. He is a Filipino and answerable to Philippine laws,” Visaya said. (Froilan Gallardo/MindaNews)
