Chinese nabbed for firecracker ban violation in Zambo

ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/24 December) – Police filed on Monday a criminal charge at the Office of the City Prosecutor against a Chinese national for violation of Republic Act 7183, an act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.

Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca, head of the Firearms Explosives Security Agencies and Guards Services (FESAGS), said the charge was filed against Lichard Che, manager of the Mega Sales Store in this city.

Huesca said Che was arrested in an entrapment operation last Saturday for selling firecracker and pyrotechnic products without license from FESAGS.

The police official said they seized at least P90,000 worth of firecrackers during the entrapment.

He said Che was also charged in relation to Executive Order No. BC-23-2013 issued by Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar.

E.O. No. BC-23-2013 issued by Salazar last November 11 bans the sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnics in this city.

Huesca said Che was the second Chinese national to be charged for violation of R.A. 7183 in the region this year.

The first was a certain “Xi Baya Chang” who was arrested in an entrapment last week in at 168 Mega Commercial in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Police confiscated some P.5 million worth of firecrackers from 168 Mega Commercial. (MindaNews)
