Delayed arrival for ‘Agaton’ in Mindanao

MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/19 January) — Tropical Depression Agaton has continued to move slowly, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 5am advisory.

PAGASA said Agaton’s center was spotted 166 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 4am Sunday,

The state weather bureau earlier predicted that Agaton would make landfall in Hinatuan on Saturday night.

The weather disturbance was moving south southwest at 5 kph, and was packing winds of up to 55 kph near the center, it said.

Caraga region and the provinces of Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley will have gusty winds with moderate to rough seas, PAGASA said.

Visayas, the rest of Davao and Northern Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, it added. (MindaNews)
