Kidnappers free young girl in Zambo Sibugay

ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/13 February) – Combined police and military forces have safely recovered a five-year-old girl who was freed Tuesday by suspected kidnappers in a secluded place of Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay, police said.

Senior Insp. Danilo Pailden, Payao municipal police chief, said that Alexa dela Cruz was freed around 4 p.m. at Sitio Masanang, Barangay Poblacion in Payao.

Pailden said the victim was seized by the suspected kidnappers in the evening of January 11 at their residence at Sitio Tabion, Barangay Kima, also in Payao.

He said “no ransom” was paid in exchange for the release of the victim, whose parents are into rice trading.

The police chief said the victim was immediately taken to the municipal health office for medical check-up after her release.

She was reportedly handed over to his father, Alejandro dela Cruz, in the presence of Payao Mayor Carol Mendoza.

Meanwhile, Pailden disclosed that they have already filed criminal charges against five people who were allegedly involved in the kidnapping of the young girl.
