MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews / 17 March) – Two earthquakes hit Surigao del Norte and Surigao City on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The first tremor hit 15 kilometers southwest of Malimono, Surigao del Norte at 1:30 p.m. and registered a magnitude of 5.4.
Phivolcs said the quake had a depth of 19 kilometers, and was felt at Intensity IV in Surigao City, Intensity V in Placer, Surigao del Norte, and Intensity III in Butuan City.
The second quake hit 33 km southeast of Surigao City at 2:13 p.m. with a magnitude of 3.3 and a depth of 22 km.
