DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 27 March) – The Center of Psychological Extension and Research Services (COPERS) of the Ateneo de Davao University is sending out a nine-man team of psychologists to Zamboanga today.
This deployment is in support of the program of the Association of Psychologists and Helping Practitioners, Inc. (APHP) to beef up the services of the Zamboanga Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) cluster.
Headed by Dr. Nelly Z. Limbadan, the team is expected to follow up on cases referred for assessment and clinical support, as well as recruit and provide training support to psychosocial services providers operating in the evacuation centers and affected communities.
Assembled by COPERS, Dr. Limbadan’s team is composed of Katrina Diano, Raissa Matunog, and John Paul Martin of the ADDU Department of Psychology, ADDU alumnus Alexandra Montojo, Polomolok MSWDO psychologist Michael Jess Lapid, AFP psychologist Ms. Lolina Bajin, and Xavier University’s Koreena Saarenas and Rosa Rio Bolanio.
The psychological mission shall hold clinic, conduct a recall session of MHPSS cluster members, and train community-based resources on March 28-30.
The APHP is a Securities and Exchange Commission-registered non-stock, non-profit association organized by ADDU psychologists to educate on appropriate psychological information and promote the delivery of timely mental health interventions to communities in need. The APHP is a member of the Zamboanga emergency MHPSS cluster assembled by the Department of Health and the World Health Organization – Western Pacific in response to the Zamboanga crisis that erupted in September 2013.
