4.8-magnitude quake jolts Surigao del Sur

MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/15 April) — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake of tectonic origin shook parts of Surigao del Sur shortly before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a bulletin Tuesday.

Phivolcs said the tremor occurred 88 kilometers south of Tandag City in Surigao del Sur and had a depth of 15 km.

The quake was felt at intensity III in Tandag and intensity II in San Miguel town, but no damage and aftershocks are expected. (MindaNews)
