ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/07 April) – One of the six gunmen allegedly behind the abduction last week of a businessman’s son in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte has been arrested by the police as follow-up operation continue, a police official said.
Senior Insp. Joseph Ortega, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) spokesperson, identified the arrested suspect as Omar Wahab alias Binday, 25, of Malambuhangin, Siocon.
Ortega said Wahab, who was arrested 3:05 p.m. Friday in Barangay Bucana, Siocon, was positively identified by witnesses as one of the suspects who served as lookout in the abduction of Michael Kho, 27.
Kho’s father, Allan, owns and manages a gasoline station in Barangay Poblacion, Siocon.
Kho was at the gasoline station when the gunmen arrived and seized the victim in the evening of April 1.
The victim was forced to board a getaway vehicle, a KIA Sportage with plate number YES-613 that was recovered later in Barangay Latabon, Siocon.
Ortega said investigation showed the original owner of the getaway vehicle was Ronaldo Enovejas.
The police official said Enovejas had furnished a copy of the deed of sale showin he already sold the vehicle to Jerwin Biao, a resident of Barangay Ayala, Zamboanga City through the JBC Surplus Display Center.
He said they are now trying to know why the vehicle was in the hands of the suspects as well as to arrest them. (MindaNews)
