DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/18 May) – The superior of the Jesuits of the Bukidnon Mission District passed away on Saturday, May 17 apparently due to cardiac failure.
“Fr. Randolf “Randy” Lumabao, 59, was found on the floor of his room in the Jesuit Retreat House in Malaybalay City, Saturday morning, “apparently having suffered major heart failure,” Fr. Karel San Juan, Ateneo de Zamboanga University president said in a statement posted on Facebook
“Rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead at about 10:30 a.m. Fr. Randy had been dealing with some health issues the past few years,” Fr. Karel San Juan, Ateneo de Zamboanga University president said.
Lumabao was valedictorian of Ateneo de Zamboanga High School Class 1971. He taught theology at the Ateneo de Zamboanga College before he joined the Society of Jesus in May 1979. He was ordained priest on April 8, 1989 and was Jesuit superior in Bukidnon since 2010.
Lumabao’s wake is at the Jesuit Retreat House in Malaybalay. Funeral mass will be at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at the San Isidro Labrador Cathedral and interment will be at the Shepherd’s Meadow in Malayalay City. (MindaNews
