ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/23 May) – Unidentified gunmen wearing camouflage uniforms and bonnet masks seized a Chinese businesswoman and her daughter in Basilan province Thursday, a police official disclosed.
Supt. Albert Larubis, Isabela City police chief, identified the victims as Dina Eraham, 45, who owns the Dalby’s videoke house, and her daughter, Yahong Tan, 19.
Larubis said the victims are natives of China but have long been staying and doing business in Isabela, the provincial capital of Basilan.
He said the victims were seized around 9:35 p.m. Thursday at the Dalby’s videoke house along I. Magno Extension Street, Barangay Port Area in Isabela
Investigation showed the victims were inside the videoke house when at least 10 gunmen arrived and introduced themselves as operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Larubis said.
He said the gunmen grabbed the victims and dragged them to the shore and forced them to board two motorized bancas.
The videoke house of the victims is just few meters away from the shoreline.
Larubis said the kidnappers fled under cover of darkness towards the direction of Panigayan Island. (MindaNews)
