Jordanian killed, girlfriend wounded in ambush

ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/19 May) – A Jordanian national was killed while his Filipina girlfriend survived although wounded in an ambush Sunday in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported.

SPO3 Abner Silaga, the case investigator, identified the slain Jordanian national as Mohammad Shaker Hashim Shaker Hashim Shaker Khalil, 56, who was temporarily residing in Barangay Poblacion, Salug, Zamboanga del Norte.

Wounded was Menbie Villamil, 19, a resident of Barangay Pucay, Salug.

Silaga said their initial investigation showed Khalil was driving a motorcycle with Villamil on board from Salug to Liloy when they were fired upon by gunmen shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday at Mucas Bridge in Barangay Kayok, Liloy.

Silaga said Khalil sustained 10 gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the Liloy District Integrated Health Hospital.

He said Villamil, who sustained four gunshot wounds, was later transferred to the Zamboanga Del Norte Medical Center in Dipolog City.

No suspects have been identified. (MindaNews)
