ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/02 June) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Region IX warned the public against unscrupulous people who are enrolling members into the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and collecting fees.
The DSWD said it was investigating who are behind the scheme, adding it will not hesitate to file criminal charges against the people involved in it.
DSWD Regional Information Officer for 4Ps Jayson Elias emphasized that they are not collecting any fee for enrolment into the 4Ps.
The 4Ps is a conditional cash transfer program of the government implemented by the DSWD.
Elias disclosed they have received reports that a group has been going to barangays to enlist people into the 4Ps and collect P95 from each registrant.
He said the reports further disclosed that P50 of the P95 is for membership fee and the remaining P45 is for the identification card.
“To the public, be vigilant. The DSWD does not collect any fees for the registration of 4Ps beneficiaries,” he said.
“They can visit us so that we can explain to them on how to become a 4Ps beneficiary.
Do not believe in people registering them into the program with corresponding fee,” he added.
He said the beneficiaries of 4Ps are being identified through the National Housing Targeting Survey for Poverty Reduction and are not recruited or enrolled for a fee.
