KORONADAL CITY (MindaNews / 9 July) – The provincial government of South Cotabato has allocated an additional P57 million for the implementation of key infrastructure and other related development projects within the second half of the year.
South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes said Wednesday such allocation will cover for the construction and development requirements of 39 projects that were earlier set by the local government as among its priority initiatives for this year.
She said her office recently issued the go-signal to the Provincial Engineer’s Office to proceed with the bidding of the contracts for the identified projects.
“These are projects that we prioritized for funding and implementation due to their potential socio-economic impacts,” the governor said in a statement.
Fuentes said the bulk of the allocation was set aside for three major road projects in the municipalities of T’boli, Surallah and Tampakan.
She said they specifically allotted P10 million for the concreting of the T’boli-Barangay Laconon road, P5 million for the concreting of the junction Surallah–Barangay Lamian road and P5 million for the rehabilitation of the main road in Barangay Albagan in Tampakan.
The other major projects are the construction of gym and stage worth P9.87 million at the Koronadal Central Elementary School I in Koronadal City, Sto. Nino National High school in Sto. Nino, Lamian National High School in Surallah, Barangays Malugong and Talcon in T’boli and Barangay Palian in Tupi; construction of two mini gymnasiums worth P8.2 million in Barangay Tasiman in Lake Sebu and the T’boli National High School in T’boli;
Construction of school stage worth P5.52 million in Barangays New Cuyapo, Tinongkop and Bukay Pait in Tantangan, San Vicente National High School and Barangay Improgo in Banga, and Barangay Dumaguil in Norala; installation of the electrical system of the Upper Valley Community Hospital in Surallah worth P4.2 million; construction of multi-purpose pavements worth P3.37 million in Sitio Lamtabong-bong, Barangay Lambingi and Sitio Paraiso, Barangay Cinco in Banga, Sitio Tuburan, Barangay Ned in Lake Sebu, Sitio Pag-asa, Barangay Simsiman in Norala, Purok 5, Barangay Centrala in Surallah, Purok 3, Barangay Palo in Tampakan, Purok Paghidaet, Barangay Paraiso in Tantangan and Sitio New Leyte, Barangay Topland in Koronadal City; development of a potable water system worth P2.8 million in Barangay Liwanay in Banga; and the construction of the Minahang Bayan Center of the Provincial Environment Management Office in T’boli worth P1 million.
Fuentes said they allotted some P868,000 for the repair and maintenance of the Barangay Health Stations in Barangays San Jose in Banga; Luhib in Lake Sebu; Esperanza in Norala; Bentung Sulit and Sulit in Polomolok; Ambalgan in Sto. Nino; and San Isidro in Tampakan.
She said they have set aside around P700,000 for the refurbishing of the supply office and two patient ward rooms of the Norala district hospital and another P689,000 for the completion of the perimeter fence of the Polomolok Municipal Hospital.
The governor added that the funding for these projects will be drawn from the provincial government’s local development fund, supplemental budget number 2 and 2014 regular budget.
