ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/09 November) – A member of the Explosives Ordnance Demolition team was wounded when two improvised bombs exploded 15 minutes apart on Sunday evening at a massage parlor located some 100 meters away from the Zamboanga City Police Office Office (ZCPO).
Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca, ZCPO spokesperson, said the first explosion took place around 7:30 p.m. at the second floor of a massage parlor along downtown Tomas Claudio Street, while the second exploded on the ground floor 15 minutes later.
Huesca said no one was killed or injured during the first blast but PO2 Manuel Franklin Ynet, a K9 handler, was injured when the second bomb exploded on the ground floor.
Huesca said no one was either killed or injured in the first explosion.
Huesca said Ynet suffered burns when the second explosive went off as the content of an unattended package he was about to check turned out to be an improvised bomb.
He did not say anything about the condition of the bomb-sniffing dog but information gathered showed the K9 was slightly injured.
He said the incidents are being investigated thoroughly. (MindaNews)
