Kidnapped fish breeder freed in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/11 December) – Suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits released late Tuesday a Malaysian-Chinese fish breeder they seized six months ago in Sandakan, Sabah, a military official disclosed.

Released was Chan Sai Chuin, 32, also known as Kun Mun Hua (passport name), according to Capt. Ma. Rowena Muyuela, Western Mindanao Command information officer.

Muyuela cited a belated report from Joint Task Group Sulu saying Chuin was released around 11 p.m. Tuesday in Sitio Tumahu, Barangay Tubig Dakula, Indanan, Sulu.

She said the bandits released Chuin following negotiations initiated by Hadji Mamih Sangkula and Hadji Mandi Sangkula.

She said thar Chuin, upon his release, was fetched by a speedboat to Sandakan.

The bandits seized Chuin in June in Kunak, a small town in the east coast of Sabah. (MindaNews)
