COTABATO CITY (MindaNews/17 October) – The chief of police of Marawi City was gunned down by still unidentified armed men while driving his vehicle at Crossing Sarimanok, Barangay Luksa Datu in Marawi City Saturday afternoon, reports reaching the Police Regional Office in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) said.
PNP-ARMM spokesperson Sr. Insp. Ronald de Leon said Supt. Al Abner Wahab Santos, a resident of Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur, was driving his black Montero vehicle when shot by armed men on board a similar black Montero at the crossing at around 2:20 p.m.
The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds on the head.
De Leon said the killing could be related to the anti-drug and Oplan Lambat-Sibat work-related accomplishments of the police chief. (Ferdinandh B. Cabrera/ MindaNews)
