Retired police officer, driver killed

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/17 October) — A retired police officer and a driver were gunned down by two unidentified men at around 6 a.m. on Saturday in Toril, Davao City.

Authorities identified the victims as PO3 Catalino Yap Jalalon, 52, married, a resident of Lanzones St. Manggahan, Brgy. Crossing Bayabas, Toril, and Erwin Caberto Sedenio, 37, married, driver, of Prudential Village, Brgy. Daliao, of the same district.

Based on the police report of Toril Police Station, Yap was on board a motorcycle driven by Sedenio, traversing Kalye Lahat Pogi in Discuatan, Toril.

The two died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspects riding in tandem on a Honda Wave motorcycle sped off towards SItio Pagkakaisa in Brgy. Lubogan in Toril.

Members of the Scene of Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered from the site four shells of caliber .45, a deformed slug of unknown caliber, and personal belongings of the victims.

Police are now conducting a hot pursuit operation to identify and arrest the suspects.

In a text message on Saturday, Senior Insp. Milgrace Driz, spokesperson for Davao City Police Office said they have yet to determine the motive of the killing.
