Fire razes house in Davao on New Year’s Day

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 2 Jan) – A total of P120,000 worth of properties were lost after a fire gutted a house at Crossing Malabog in Paquibato District in this city 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Based on the investigation conducted by Paquibato Police Station’s PO3 Luther Napoles, caretaker Rogelio A. Amania, 37, and his friend left the house owned by Jimmylou Fajardo at 12:15 a.m. When they returned, they saw the house was already being razed by fire.

A blue Suzuki Raider MC with plate number NZ2806, three pieces of spray tanks, a 200-meter spray hose, and assorted bottled spray chemicals were also damaged by fire.

Police have yet to identify what caused the fire.

From January to November 2015, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 11 recorded a total of 976 fire incidents, increased by 28.89 percent from 694 of the same period in 2014. The total cost of damages were placed at P258.304 million.

Most of these took place in Davao City with 418, followed by Davao del Sur with 185, Davao del Norte with 18, Davao Oriental with 141, and Compostela Valley with 51.
