GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews/ 14 August) — A police officer heading a special anti-Illegal drugs unit in Cotabato City was shot to death at 8:30 p.m. Saturday by a motorcycle-riding tandem in Tacurong City.
Senior Inspector Orlando Ramos Guira, 46 deputy chief on Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force in Cotabato City, was on his way home in Tacurong on board a motorcycle when shot.
Tacurong City Chief of Police Superintendent Rannie Hachuela said Guira had just fetched his doctor-wife in neighboring Isulan town.
But Guira’s wife, Le Jean, who was supposed to ride with him, opted to board a public tricycle because his wife was not feeling well, Hachuela said.
Guira opted to tail the tricycle. Soonafter, gunshots were heard.
Investigation revealed that the victim was believed followed by the gunmen who fired at him in Barangay EJC Montilla.
Guira, suffered several gunshot wounds from .a 45 pistol. The suspects fled towards Isulan.
Police initiated a manhunt operation and are still determining if the killing is related to his job as anti-drugs special operations officer. (Ferdinandh B. Cabrera / MindaNews)
