CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MindaNews / 15 June) – For two weeks at the height of the Marawi siege, this suspected Maute bomber stayed quietly in a rented room of a boarding house in Aluba, Barangay Macasandig in this city.
A joint team composed of police and Army operatives raided his room and arrested Mohammad Noaim Maute, the suspected Maute bomber.
Chief Supt. Agripino Javier, PNP regional director, presented Maute alias Abu Jadid to the media in Camp Alagar here Thursday.
Javier said Mohammad managed to elude the checkpoints from Iligan to Cagayan de Oro by using a fake student ID identifying himself as Alfaiz Mamintal of the Mindanao State University.
He said Mohammad is a trained explosives expert and was among those who planned the attack at Maxandria Hotel here that left two dead and injured two others in 2012.
When presented to the media, Mohammad denied he was involved in the siege of Marawi by the Maute gunmen.
He insisted his real name was Alfaiz Mamintal, denying that he was Mohammad Noaim Maute.
Mohammad, however, admitted that he is one of those whose pictures appeared in a poster circulated by the government containing suspected members of the terror group.
Javier said Mohammad is among the persons in the Arrest Order no. 2 issued by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana. (Froilan Gallardo / MindaNews)
