He finished Law at San Beda, Duterte’s alma mater,  and passed the bar in 1975.

Jainal’s nomination, subject to the confirmation of the Commission on Appointments,  was signed on January 24 and released by Malacanang on January 29.

In April last year, Duterte named a Moro lawyer from Lanao del Sur who lived for two decades in the United States and renounced his US citizenship in 2016 as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Duterte nominated Adnan Villaluna Alonto for the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Yemen.

The then 58-year old son of the late Senator Domocao Alonto and brother of Lanao del Sur Governor Soraya Alonto-Adiong, actively campaigned for Duterte in the United States and was overall North America coordinator for the Brotherhood for Duterte USA.

He got the nod of the Commission on Appointments in May last year.

He is the second Alonto appointed by President Duterte. His first cousin. Abul Khayr ALonto, was appointed chair of the Mindanao Development Authority in 2016. (Carolyn O. Arguillas / MindaNews)
