Wayward truck kills 4 in Cotabato town

KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 01 February) – Four persons, three of them motorcycle drivers, died when a wayward ten-wheeler truck rammed their vehicles along the national highway in Makilala, North Cotabato, around 11 a.m. Thursday.

Reports from the traffic division of the Makilala police said the truck lost brake while maneuvering a slope along Sitio Patulangon, Barangay Malasila, where repairs of a bridge were ongoing.

The Makilala police have yet to determine the identities of the victims of what they called a “freak accident”.

Witnesses said it took the emergency medical staff of Kidapawan City’s Call 911 and rescue volunteers from Makilala local government unit an hour to retrieve the bodies from the cliff where the truck crashed.

Police recovered from the accident site two of the three motorcycles, a SkyGo unit with license plate number MM 5353 and a brand new Yamaha STX.

They are still on the hunt for the truck driver who escaped right after the incident. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
