ILIGAN CITY (MindaNews / 15 March) – A magnitude 5 earthquake jolted Bukidnon and neighboring provinces mid-afternoon Thursday, but the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said it was not expecting damage, although aftershocks are likely.
PHIVOLCS said the earthquake occurred at 3:19:59 p.m. with epicenter at the coordinates 08.10°N, 124.56°E, or 19 kilometers southwest of Talakag, which is near its boundary with Iligan City.
It was reportedly of tectonic origin at a depth of 1 kilometer.
PHIVOLCS said it was felt as Intensity IV in Iligan City, Intensity III in Cagayan de Oro, and Intensity II in Kalilangan, Bukidnon. (MindaNews)
