MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews / 5 June) – The low pressure area off Mindanao has become a tropical depression and given the local name Domeng, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In a bulletin issued 11 am on Tuesday, Pagsasa said the tropical depression is located 675 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar and moving north northwest at 14 kilometers per hour.
Domeng is packing maximum winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 60 km/h.
Pagasa has not placed any area under tropical cyclone warning signals, but Domeng is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains to Eastern and Central Visayas, and Caraga and Davao Regions in Mindanao.
The weather bureau alerted residents of these region for possible flash floods and landslides.
Domeng, the 4th cyclone to hit the Philippines this year, is not expected to make landfall. (MindaNews)
