KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 5 July) – Unidentified suspects shot dead a Pakistani national collecting debts from residents in Carmen, North Cotabato Wednesday morning, reports from the Carmen municipal police station said.
Chief Insp. April Lou Monserate Palma, chief of the Carmen PNP, identified the slain victim as Hazrat Hussain, 26, married, lending collector and resident of Hi-Park Drive, Barangay Baliwasan Tabuk in Zamboanga City.
Palma said the victim had just parked his motorcycle in front of Macaya Store along the Sayre national highway in Carmen around 9:50 a.m. when two still unidentified gunmen shot dead the Pakistani national.
After they made sure they hit their target, the suspects sped towards the adjacent municipality of Kabacan using the victim’s motorbike as getaway vehicle.
Palma hinted that the Pakistani’s killers were only after the victim’s motorbike and were not interested on his cash collections.
The killing of the Pakistani was the third in North Cotabato that involved foreigners in the money lending business, according to the Cotabato Police Provincial Office (CPPO).
In October 25, 2017, another Pakistani trader identified as Etesham Ulhag was shot dead in Pikit town.
In December 2017, an Indian national identified as Harpeet Singh Dhillon was also killed somewhere between North Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat province. (Malu Cadelina Manar / MindaNews)
