DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/23 July) – A tornado hit the coastal communities in Barangay Lapu-Lapu and Centro Agdao, Davao City at around 8:45 pm on Sunday, leaving one person injured and five houses destroyed and forcing residents to flee their homes.
As of 9 am on Monday, Davao City Central 911 chief Emmanuel Jaldon said that authorities were still assessing the damage.
Police Regional Office 11 spokesperson Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz said a debris of a GI sheet hit and injured 60-year old Billy Erno.
The victim was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center, Driz said.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office evacuated at least 300 residents to the barangay gymnasium. They were advised to return home at around 9:30 pm.
