KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 14 Sept) – A police officer assigned at M’lang town in North Cotabato was gunned down by a still unidentified assailant around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, reports said.

Killed was SPO1 Jovette Solanon Galan, 40, of the M’lang Police Office and resident of Purok 3, Barangay Lika in M’lang.

Galan, according to M’lang municipal Vice Mayor Joselito Pinol, was headed towards the town’s police office after he fetched his wife when one of the gunmen onboard a motorcycle shot him many times on his head and chest.

The suspect exited towards Matalam, also in North Cotabato.

Galan was rushed to the nearest hospital but did not make it alive, reports added.

As this develops, another farmer at Purok 5, Barangay Nueva Vida also in M’lang was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman just 10 minutes after Galan’s murder.

Killed was Dante Alimama of Barangay Nueva Vida.

Reports said Alimama was outside his house when the suspect approached him and without further delay pumped bullets into his chest and head.

Police of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered from the site six empty bullets from a caliber .45 pistol.

After the series of killings in his area of responsibility, Supt. Giovanni Ladeo of M’lang PNP dispatched his men and ordered inspection along the national highway.
