Former Maguindanao mayor, brother killed in anti-drug operation in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY (MindaNews/ 04 Jan) – Former mayor Talib Abo of Parang, Maguindanao and his brother were killed in separate anti-illegal drug operations here past midnight on Friday.

City police director Senior Supt. Rolly Octavio said the former mayor was killed in Gutierrez Street while his brother Bobby Abo was killed in Kampo Muslim, Barangay Bagua.

The operatives from the Regional Drugs Enforcement Unit of PNP-12 were armed with nine search warrants, Octavio said.

In 2006, then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte tagged Talib Abo as the narco politician who allegedly smuggled 3.5 kilos of shabu (crystal meth) from Cotabato City to Davao using Parang’s ambulance.
