Nograles served as the city’s 1st District Representative from 1989 to 1992, 1995 to 1998, and 2001 until 2010.

On his last term, he was elected as the 22nd Speaker of the House, making him the first Mindanawon lawmaker to hold the position.

“May he find eternal peace and repose in the arms of our loving Father in heaven. It is also my prayer that the Lord Almighty ease your pain and that you will find solace and strength during this difficult time,” Duterte said.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, also former 1st District Representative, said the wake of his father would be in Chapel 1 at Heritage Park, Fort Bonifacio, BGC, Taguig on Sunday until Monday.

His remains will be flown to Davao City on May 7, according to Nograles’ eldest son. (Antonio L. Colina IV / MindaNews)
