MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/13 May) – Hitches that marred previous elections continued to disrupt voting on Monday’s midterm elections in parts of Bukidnon province.
A number of vote counting machines (VCMs) were reported to have jammed in the towns of Don Carlos, Cabanglasan, Manolo Fortich and Pangantucan, and in Malaybalay City.
Paper jams occurred in some precincts of Barangays Casisang and Bancud in Malaybalay City, Barangay Dalacutan in Cabanglasan, Barangay Masimag in Don Carlos, Barangay Alae in Manolo Fortich, and Barangay Malipayon in Pangantucan.
Voting, however, continued and the Boards of Election Inspectors just made the voters sign a waiver that their votes could not be counted as yet due to the nonfunctioning VCMs.
Technicians traced the problem to defective SD cards, which they said will be replaced.
Several voters in the same areas and in Maramag town complained that their names were “missing” from the master list posted outside the polling precincts. (H. Marcos C. Mordeno/MindaNews)
