DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/29 May) – The Palace issued Proclamation No. 729 declaring Wednesday next week (June 5) as a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan).

The proclamation was based on, among others, on Republic Act 9177 and the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.

It said the observance of the holiday aims to “bring the religious and cultural significance of Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness.”

President Duterte signed Proclamation No. 555 in August last year declaring Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha as holidays this year.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Proclamation No. 729 Wednesday on behalf of Duterte who is in Japan to attend the Nikkei’s International Conference on the Future of Asia. (MindaNews)
